Principal's Report

From musical performances and swimming lessons to welcoming future students, the past fortnight has been filled with a number of extracurricular activities along with targeted learning and assessment in classrooms as we draw closer to the years learning programs. With only three weeks left before the Christmas holidays, we’re excited but students and teachers alike are certainly not taking their foot off the pedal just yet.

Last week, our ACPS Choir visited and performed for the residents of Bupa aged care in Templestowe. Through some beautiful Christmas themed songs, our choir did an amazing job and represented ACPS with pride. They were even treated to a performance from the residents, a dance with them and a lovely afternoon tea in return.

We had our 2025 Foundation students take their first steps into the ACPS community during their first Transition Afternoon. These sessions are designed to make the start of school a positive and exciting experience for both students and families by familiarising the kids with the school , their teacher and also their peers.  It was great to see their smiling and eager faces with some even sitting there proudly in their ACPS uniform.

Our library became a hive of activity on Tuesday morning as Warrandyte Kinder students visited for a morning of creativity and fun with Mrs. Callaway and our Grade 5 students.  It is always great when we get the opportunity to work with our local Kindergartens and I would like to thank all involved organising the morning.

Swimming lessons continued this week with Grades 3-4 students commencing their two weeks of lessons. These lessons are facilitated by qualified swimming instructors and not only enhance swimming techniques but also build water confidence and safety awareness. Well done to all students for their efforts in the pool so far and we look forward to our Prep - 2 students commencing their lessons next week.

Important Updates: Finalising Classes and Teachers for 2025

As we prepare for an exciting year ahead, we are pleased to confirm the classroom teaching structure for 2025:

  • Prep: Amanda Callaway
  • Grade 1: Linda Zanatta
  • Grade 2: Peta Dibb
  • Grade 3: Alysha Buzzini
  • Grade 4: Terpsi Miliaresis and Brooke Eastwood
  • Grade 5: Karen Sharland
  • Grade 6: Chelsea Black and Russell Smith

To help students transition smoothly, they will spend time in their 2025 classes on Tuesday, 10th December. This is a valuable opportunity for students to meet their new teachers and classmates and get a feel for the year ahead.

Upcoming Event: ACPS Christmas Carols

Get ready to celebrate the festive season at our ACPS Christmas Carols on Thursday, 5th December, from 6:00–7:00 pm on the school oval. Each class will perform a special musical item, showcasing their talents and spreading holiday cheer. Bring along your picnic blankets, food, and drinks for a relaxed evening with our school community.

We are also expecting a very special visitor—Santa himself will be stopping by to join in the fun! It’s set to be a fantastic night, and we can’t wait to see you there.

Bake-a-Wish

We are thrilled to share some exciting news! Our 🍰Bake-A-Wish🧁 fundraiser has officially wrapped up, and thanks to your incredible generosity, we have exceeded our $500 goal! ACPS raised $1750.

Throughout November, every Monday, our ACPS community came together in such a beautiful way, donating, baking, and supporting Make-a-Wish. Every treat shared and every dollar contributed has helped bring hope and joy to children facing serious illnesses through Make-A-Wish Australia.

A special thank you to our students, parents, and staff who participated—whether by baking, organizing, or enjoying the delicious goodies. This fundraiser wouldn’t have been possible without your support, and we are so grateful to everyone who contributed.

Together, we’ve made a real difference, and we couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve achieved as a school community.

⭐️Thank you for your kindness and generosity.⭐️

Carenet Giving Day

Carenet Giving Day is happening on Friday, 6th December, and on this special day, community members experiencing financial strain can select a new gift for their children. We understand that this year’s financial climate has been tough for many, but the response to our donation drive has been lower than expected, leaving us concerned about having enough gifts for everyone. If you are able, we would greatly appreciate donations of new gifts for young people under 18.

Please drop your gift at the school office before Friday, 6th December.

Warmest regards, The Carenet Team.''
