During week 5 and 6 we had lots of fun trying new foods including coconut chia puddings, spinach and tomato scrolls, avocado and tomato bruschetta different flavored fruit smoothies. We love getting new menu suggestions that help us discover new foods from all around the world!

We are currently working on reorganising the office and our sports equipment area. Children have been amazing taking responsibility sorting out unwanted things and cleaning up the area.

Our reward chart is working really well in motivating and encouraging children to take ownership of the program not limited to being food serving leader, dishwasher monitor, group time leader, engaging in getting hold of our Adventure Box but much more.

Service Philosophy

At Mount Pleasant Road OSHClub, we provide a safe and stimulating free-play environment for the children in our care. We value children’s creativity, voice and self-agency and promote the developing independence and confidence of children as they continue to learn to ‘do things for themselves’ and learn to communicate confidently with those around them.

We seek to support children’s wellbeing by developing and maintaining warm and trusting relationships with them and their families. In our multi-age context, we aim to support children to create friendships through play that involves children outside of their year groups at school, fostering a sense of belonging and peer support at the program, while at school and beyond.

In our free-play environment we are in a unique position to observe and support children in their social development. In doing so, we support children to express their emotions positively, to develop their awareness of other’s points of view and to develop empathy. We use Restorative Practices as a strategy to resolve differences. Restorative Practice is also used at school. By using this approach, we are continuing to use language that children are familiar with.

At Mount Pleasant Road OSHClub, children’s voice informs planning and programming and becomes evident in the choices that are made daily. Children are the drivers of our program. Our planning is responsive and extends children’s understanding of themselves and the world through creative endeavour, social relationships, physical activity, and play.
