HSIE

Term 4 in HSIE has seen students across Stages 4 and 5 completing their final assessment tasks for the year and Year 11 starting the HSC courses. Alongside this, there have been lots of engaging and interactive learning experiences.

Here are just a few:

Our Year 12 Geography students have begun their HSC journey by exploring global sustainability. A key focus of their studies is viticulture. To enhance their learning, students recently had the privilege of meeting John Clark from CSU Winery and Jan from Eunonyhareenyha Winery who generously shared their expertise, providing our students with a firsthand look at the winemaking process. This invaluable experience will undoubtedly enrich their understanding of sustainable practices in viticulture and economic activities.

As part of their “Towards Independence” unit, Years 9 and 10 Commerce students investigated various aspects of purchasing their first car. All three classes visited Thomas Bros Toyota where managers Mr Paul Fellows and Mr Mark Atkinson spoke to the students about the process of buying a car and the advantages and disadvantages of buying new and used cars.

Cooking on a budget

Students worked in pairs to prepare a meal for 4 on a budget of $25. Students planned their menu, shopped at Coles and finally prepared their meals. We had some delicious successes and some failures but a good time was had by all!

In Year 8, we journeyed to Japan at the time of the Shogun, unravelling the unique blend of tradition and innovation during this era. This culminated in the annual, highly anticipated Samurai armour challenge.
