Visit from Reba Stewart

When doing Landcare, on 21st of November 2024, Reba Stewart (Olympic athlete) came to visit our group. Reba talked about what it's like to do Taekwondo. She showed us a high kick over her head! I thought she was going to hit the posters in front of her but she was too far away to kick them, luckily. She talked to us saying she broke her nose and broke another person’s nose while fighting. Reba explained what Taekwondo is and how to do it. She needed to stop for 8 months during COVID! She had to get tested for COVID twice a day at the Tokyo Olympics otherwise she wouldn’t be able compete because she might make people sick. Fortunately, she didn’t catch COVID. Reba visited 27 different places and visited the same countries more than once.

Reba can lift her foot up to her head! She is the best Australian! When she loses she eats ice cream in bed and cries (just kidding!) She travels to different countries to compete. I think she has gone to twenty-seven different countries. In four years she will go to another country.

Reba told us that in Tokyo they have no air-conditioners and it is really hot.

Reba showed us her favourite move - putting her leg to her head. I was really excited to meet an Olympian. I've never met an Olympian and I have always wanted to meet one. At the start I was really excited to meet her. She can do the splits but she didn't show us how because she hadn’t warmed up.

Reba is 23 years old. Her home club is Hall's Taekwondo. Her first Olympic Games was the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

Reba went to the Tokyo Olympics but she did not win. She is twenty-three and she showed us how to kick properly. She was the best.

Reba Stewart is very good at Taekwondo. She can kick very high so she can score points. She can win easily. She is very talented. She loves what she's doing.

When I heard Reba was coming to our school I was like. “OMG an Olympian is coming to our school.” Then she came to Mrs Coates class and I said to Jocelynn, “can you wait until we see her!!!!.” Reba told us all about herself.  She was born on the 20th of May 2001. She was 12 years old when started learning Taekwondo. She was 13 when she competed in her first competition.
