This Week - Week 3

This week we are celebrating NAIDOC Week, a little later than normal, but coinciding with our school hosting the NSW Catholic ATSI Conference Message Stick. In October the state conference will be held in the Armidale Diocese and the message stick is travelling to each school. Thank you to Mrs Karen Tighe, the leader of Aboriginal Education in our diocese who attended our assembly.

Today we had our NAIDOC Assembly. Our Kindergarten students and some of our Aboriginal students did a great job of setting the tone for our week. We are grateful to the Inverell High School Clontarf and Stars Academies who helped us celebrate.  During the week each year group will rotate around a variety of activities that will explore the theme of NAIDOC for 2024 as well as the importance of message sticks in Aboriginal culture. Our Aboriginal Education Assistants Mr Boney, Miss Higgins and Miss Adams have done a great job at organising the week.

Our Year 9 and 10 Agricultural students are this week in Brisbane at the EKKA. It is a huge week and the photos attached show the faces of happy and proud students. We look forward to hearing about their successes.

Planning for 2025

Kindergarten interviews

We are organising our Kinder interviews for 2025. If you have dropped in your application forms Mrs Cathy Dyer will be contacting you in the coming week or so to organise a time for you and your child to come and meet with me. It is now important if you know someone who is ready to start Kindergarten and would like to come to HTS that we receive their enrolment form. Please collect from the Front Office or jump on our website.

Years 6 to 7

A note went home last week with Year 6 students regarding their intentions for Year 7. Enrolment is continuous at HTS so we do not need another form. The form going home is to help us plan classes and resources including the school-provided iPads. Thank you to the families who have already returned the note. It is due on Monday 12 August.

Students who are leaving

If you are planning to move from HTS for 2025 could you please contact the school to let us know? This will help us with our planning for 2025.

Parking around the school

Thank you to families using the Kiss and Drop in the afternoon for delaying pick up until after 3:20 pm. The traffic is flowing a little better over the last term. A reminder that you are not able to get out of your vehicle from 2:30-4:00 pm. The highway patrol has been observing this area lately. Please continue to be vigilant.
