A snapshot from the classrooms this fortnight

Kindergarten - Jacqueline Pribilovics

Art lessons with Mrs Traylen are always a favourite in Kindergarten. This term, we will be exploring the imaginary world of fairies, witches, wizards and unicorns. Kindergarten will learn art techniques including printmaking, painting, sketching and sculpting using a variety of materials and methods. The students will be inspired by stories and images from various authors, illustrators and artists.

Year 1 - Danielle McClure and Eva Clinton

The students in Year 1 have made an excellent return to school in Term 3.  They were delighted to have the opportunity for parents and guardians to come into the classroom to view their Animal Planet movie in week 1.  The students hosted the event by welcoming our guests and showing them to their seats, providing snacks, as well as introducing each segment of the movie.  It was fantastic to see the confidence that the students have developed since the beginning of term 1.

Year 2 - Aoife Geraghty and Eva Clinton

The Year Two students immersed themselves in Aboriginal culture as they celebrated NAIDOC Week. They really enjoyed learning about the history and traditions of the First Peoples. To celebrate, they wrote about their learning, created beautiful artwork and dressed up in Aboriginal colours.

Year 3 - Hannah Jory & Peter Mallos

In Year 3 we are looking at all things Olympics from jobs, to sports, to the countries competing and finally the athletes themselves.

Year 4 - Bella Abruzzese

In Religion, Year 4 has been learning about what ‘listening with your heart’ means to them. It involves being in touch with our five senses and enabling our mind to be engaged with the beauty of the world around us.  We spent an afternoon in the garden, where the children created a journal entry about what they could hear, smell, taste, touch and see. Listening with our hearts helps us to be calm and listen to what God is trying to tell us about ourselves and the world around us, thus developing our relationship with God.

Stage 3 - Anna Kelly & Laura Courtenay

During this fortnight stage 3 competed in the Potato Olympics. In pairs we were given a potato to name and draw a face on and that potato would represent the pair as our athlete. Then we went around to the six stations and competed, the stations included:  equestrian, diving, sprints, velodrome, shot putt and skateboarding. We had a lot of fun with our potato Olympians. Our personal favourite event was the equestrian event because of the  fun times we had galloping with our friends, timing each other and recording the score!

Year 6 Student Profile

Ai-Ling Vuong

Hello! My name is Chelsea Ai-Ling Vuong, and I joined St MM in Kindergarten. I love listening to music and reading. My favourite subject at school is Maths.  I love everything about St MM, from the people to the things we do. When I graduate, the things I’ll remember will probably be friends, teachers and memories. Some great memories are Book Week parades, camp and carnivals. My favourite place in the school would be the Yr 6 classroom. This school is where I learnt everything, so it will help me in the future. I will forever be grateful for St Margaret Mary’s.
