Auslan
Focus on Auslan-Inspired Art
Term 3 will bring an exciting shift in our curriculum as we focus on creating art pieces inspired by Auslan, including signs, deafness and hand art. For the next 5 weeks, students will be channeling their creativity instead of completing their usual weekly sentences.
- Preps: Students will be drawing hands, incorporating various patterns and lines
- Year 1 / 2: Students will explore notan art, using black and white paper to draw outlines of their hands, highlighting the interplay of light and dark
- Year 3 / 4: Students will create 3D hand drawings by using straight lines that bend at the hand and then return to straight, producing a 3D effect. The results are already looking impressive.
- Year 5 / 6: While some students are completing their Chuck Baird drawings, others will have the freedom to choose their own art projects related to Auslan, fostering their individual creativity.
