Wellbeing News

Last Friday for Wellbeing Hour we focused on-

Social Awareness

- to better understand different views and have empathy for others

In order to practice these skills, a multi-age activity hour was planned.  The preparation and planning of games/activities was undertaken by our year 5 and 6 leaders. The students were placed in groups of 4-5 children and spent the hour interacting and conversing with children they may not have known very well before this session.  An amazing array of activities was planned by our incredible senior school leaders.

Here are some comments from some of our children-

In the Wellbeing Hour the whole school was put into groups, these groups included 4-5 people from different year levels, if you were in year 6 or year 5 you would lead the younger levels, organize the games, and represent responsibility and respect. In the Wellbeing Hour you will interact and socialize with younger or older year levels, in this time you will either play a few games, talk for a bit and you could also draw e.g. (5 second rule, spot it, twister, and uno).

The main point of this hour was to learn how to socialize with other kids throughout the school and bring the school closer together.

Other perspectives from our class:

It taught 5/6s how to learn responsibility

It was fun but we needed a little bit more time

It was good because we got to do some stuff and get to know others

It was a good practice to talk to other people besides your friends

Everyone had fun and got to learn about each other and connect with them

We had to take responsibility

It's a great way to get to know people and interact

We got to connect with them and got to know them

Normally I don't talk to other people other than my friends I learnt how to talk to other people

I feel like I had a chance to show my leadership

It helped me feel more social because I don't usually talk to 3/4s and 1/2 s
