Term 3 - Week 3
Welcome to Week 3,
As previously communicated, NAPLAN data for 2024 is now available for schools to analyse. At St Nicholas we use NAPLAN as one data set to evaluate effectiveness and measure the impact of our daily practice.
A deep dive into our school results in NAPLAN also provides us with important information we can use to support our school community.
In the last 12 months, St Nicholas staff have worked closely with parents around our joint responsibility of students having a high attendance rate. Put simply, for our students to become ‘literate and numerate students with a hopeful future’, they need to be at school. Our St Nicholas School 2024 NAPLAN data supports this statement.
In the two tables below I have separated St Nicholas School students whose 2023 attendance rate (Year 2 2023 & Year 4 2023) was between 90-100% (54 students in Year 2 and 64 students in Year 4) with those students whose attendance rate was less than 90% (27 students in Year 2 and 20 students in Year 4).
For the NAPLAN assessments of Reading, Writing and Numeracy, St Nicholas Year 3 students with a 2023 attendance rate of at least 90%, averaged an additional:
For the NAPLAN assessments of Reading, Writing and Numeracy, St Nicholas Year 5 students with a 2023 attendance rate of at least 90%, averaged an additional:
NSW Catholic Schools Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Education Conference Preparation
Today our school hosted numerous staff and students from across the Tamworth region and surrounding areas for the Term 3 'Yuga-li Yulu-gi' (Celebrate Dance) Conference Workshop. These students and staff are preparing for when our diocese hosts the NSW Catholic Schools Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Education conference in October. It was great to see a small snippet of what promises to be a cultural performance spectacular. 'Spirit on Country: Learning Together then, now and always'.
Have a great week
