Queensland Girls Secondary Schools Sports Association Sport

As we continue Queensland Girls Secondary Schools Sports Association (QGSSSA) Sport with Athletics meets on Friday night and Winter fixtures on Saturday, it is important to remember key points which should be adhered to by all involved. We ask students, coaches and parents to abide by the QGSSSA Code of Conduct,so all involved feel valued, supported and safe.

Competition with Respect

“The QGSSSA has been established to serve our member schools by arranging sporting fixtures and promoting a healthy approach to sporting activity.

The changing attitudes to sport in the community, and the pressure and commercialisation associated with sports in many spheres, have led the Association to feel that its aims and objectives need to be clarified and set out.

We, as an Association, believe we should encourage good behaviour and sportsmanship on the sports field and consider that the following directions should be observed.”

Standards

A reminder to all students it is expected that you arrive at all sporting events in the correct Clayfield College uniform. This includes wearing the appropriate playing uniform and, if it is cold, the Clayfield College tracksuit or navy fleece. Additionally, you should wear closed-in shoes, such as joggers, trainers, or playing footwear. Slides and Crocs are not permitted. During competitions, ensure you are in the correct competition uniform. If you stay to support your teammates after your game, you should be dressed in the Clayfield College sports uniform. Thank you for your cooperation. I look forward to seeing strong support across all our programs for the rest of the term.

Andrews Cup

Athletics

As we approach the much-anticipated Andrews Cup Athletics competition, our squad has been diligently preparing, and their commitment to training has been impressive.  Recently, on Monday 29 July, the girls had the privilege of participating in the first practice competition at the University of Queensland Athletics Centre, where we joined six other Andrews Cup member schools. It was so pleasing to see a large representation of Clayfield College students competing on the track, in the throwing events, and jumps. Special recognition goes to our outstanding 8-year-olds and 9-year-olds, whose attendance was almost 100%. We eagerly await the next meet on Tuesday 6 August, once again at the University of Queensland Athletics Centre.
