Captains' Corner

Arwen Abad and Dimity Whitaker - Chapel Captains

Last week, we had the pleasure of celebrating our annual Faith Week with the College. Our theme for the week was 'Alive and Active' where we focused on God being alive and active in our lives, and how we can be alive and active through our faith.

Throughout the week we had several fun activities taking place to celebrate ‘belief’ at Clayfield. In our Secondary Chapel Services, we also had the privilege of hearing from Lynton Allan, a visual artist and storyteller. Students were captivated by his incredible artistry and storytelling skills, and two lucky students were able to take home his artwork from each session.

On Monday, we started off the week with our Faith Week celebration cake, which was a great way to get everyone geared up and excited for the week ahead. On Tuesday, during our lunchtimes, both Primary and Secondary students participated in a fingerpainting artwork, which will be displayed in the Chapel.

On Wednesday we were busy creating a chalk mural in the Chapel Courtyard. During lunchtime our Primary and Secondary students came down to get involved, while we played faith music over the loudspeakers. It was a great experience, as we all came together to create something beautiful, which really showcased the strength of our community.

On Thursday, the Year 12 students had the privilege of visiting Years 1 and 2 in the Primary School. We read bible stories to the boys and girls including stories of Jonah and the Whale, and Moses in the Bulrushes. The students really enjoyed this time and asked many questions after each story was read.

To finish off the week, we did face painting in the Amphitheatre for the Primary School. We had some great help from Year 6, where we gave them the opportunity to lead the activities. At lunch time, we brought the face painting down to the oval for Secondary School, where they enjoyed some popcorn and a performance from the Chapel Band. The band played all of Clayfield's favourite worship songs, such as 'My Lighthouse', and 'I Thank God'. The enthusiasm was fantastic, where we had many students dancing and singing along.

Our annual Faith Week celebrations showed just how important it is to keep our faith alive and active. We had an amazing time participating in all of the activities that brought everyone closer, from Lynton Allan’s storytelling and artwork to the joyful music.

Looking back, we hope everyone had a chance to reflect and feel more connected to their faith. Seeing students of all ages join in, from the littlest ones in Primary to the Seniors, it really showed how united and supportive our community is. We hope that we can keep building on this spirit, making sure our faith stays alive and active in our everyday lives, helping everyone in our community feel inspired and included.
