Year 8 Update

Our Year Eight students are in the swing of things coming back into the beginning of Term 3.  This week, they will be working on their digital citizenship skills and considering the importance of the type of information that they share online.

Last week, the students completed an activity as a cohort which involved selecting the theme word for this term.

The result led to two words being the top contenders. ‘cocooning’ and ‘metamorphosis’. The Year 8s explained their reasoning to be that they feel that they are in the stage of ‘cocooning’ as part of their ‘metamorphosis’. For them, Term 3 is about the formation of the cocoon and them appreciating the safety of their community. The students feel that they are on their way to being ‘transformed’ into butterflies for their final stage of their metamorphosis journey.

I hope that the Year 8 students continue to feel safe in their homely school community as they described. I look forward to supporting this phase of their journey so that they are able to take the next step into a bigger, wider world.
