An Exciting Start to Term 3

Welcome back to Term 3! I hope everyone had a restful and rejuvenating break. As we embark on the second half of the year, we're excited to see the continued growth and achievements of our students. This term promises to be filled with engaging learning opportunities, exciting extracurricular activities, and memorable events.

Jacqui Cooper – World Champion Aerial Skier

Last week in assembly, we had the incredible privilege of welcoming Jacqui Cooper. In her engaging address, she entertained students and staff alike with humorous reflections on her childhood and the journey that led her to become a five-time world champion in aerial skiing. A gifted storyteller, Jacqui captivated the entire audience as she recounted her 20-year career in a sport that demands immense physical and mental resilience. Despite numerous setbacks and injuries, she highlighted the crucial role of self-belief in overcoming adversity. Jacqui inspired our girls to stay resilient amidst their own challenges, emphasising that navigating this significant period of change will ultimately make them stronger and more adaptable. These life skills will serve them well as they continue their educational journey.

Premier’s VCE Award – Congratulations to Sasha

Last week Sasha K received her Premier’s Prize for Health and Human Development at the Premier’s VCE 2023 Award Ceremony. The annual Premier's VCE Awards recognise students who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in their studies. Each year, prizes are awarded for students who have achieved the top scores in their studies when compared to all students across Victoria. The number of awards for each study corresponds to the enrolment size of each assessed cohort. Earning a Premier's Prize in any study is a significant achievement, demonstrating the dedication, determination and tenacity of the recipient in the pursuit of academic excellence in their study. This is an outstanding achievement by Sasha, and we were delighted to acknowledge her efforts and celebrate with her in assembly this week.

Commemorative Hoodie

This year is a time of celebration, reflection, and creating lasting memories. To help our community remember Shelford, the Senior School Parliamentarians have designed a commemorative hoodie. This hoodie serves as a wonderful keepsake, allowing us to proudly display our Shelford colours and pride for years to come. If you would like to order a commemorative hoodie (closing date for orders is Sat 3 Aug), please see the Shelly News item posted this week for further details.
