Congratulations to everyone who participated in Creative Arts Week 2024. This year, the theme was, ‘Origin Stories: Heroes Across Eras’ where students had to write a new origin story for a known superhero, setting their play in a bygone era. House groups did a marvellous job of writing the stories and bringing their characters, origins and settings to life. The scripts were wonderfully written, and the performances were a pleasure to watch!
Each House group worked extremely hard to produce a 20-minute dramatic performance involving acting, dancing, costumes, music, media and some very interesting sets and props! It was great to see so many people involved from across Years 7 to 12.
Congratulations to Sam Waterworth and the team from Burrows B who won the Best Direction Award for ‘Jean Grey in Renaissance Italy’, as well as Isla Moore and Milly Walker from Cuthbert A who took out Best Script Award for their production of ‘Spiderman in Ancient Greece’.
Also to be congratulated, the entire House group from Cuthbert, who under the leadership of Isla and Jordan, took out the overall CAW trophy for 2024. Well done to all groups, and to everyone who submitted a piece to our CAW competitions.
I would like to extend a big thank you and congratulations to all the House Captains for their energy and enthusiasm throughout Term 3 and during Creative Arts Week. Well done to Amy Price, Sam Waterworth, Tahlia Briggs, Reuben Bester, Isla Moore, Jordan Shields, Zara Baldwin and Takudzwa Nyirenda. Thank you for entering into the spirit of the Arts and for the ways in which you got your entire House involved.
A special mention to our Secondary Arts Captains, Cody Brown and Ellouise Gale, who both did a stellar job of hosting the week and engaging the audience throughout the all-in sessions.
Well done to everyone involved!
See you next year!
