Junior Future Stars Divsion Finals Day

Yesterday the St Cecilia's Crows competed in the Junior Future Starts Division Finals day after progessing through from their first day of competition. The team was coached by Tom, Sam and Alex from year 5 & 6. The team excelled throughout the day, displaying great teamwork and determination in their 6 pools games, winning 5 and drawing the last.

After finishing top of their pool, they qualified for the grand final. The winner of this final game would progress to the State finals. The team started a little nervously and at half time they led narrowly 3-2. However, the team kept their heads, kept crashing the boards, played tough defence and started to build a lead. The final score was 13-8, with the Crows victorious and progressing to the State Finals on December 7.

Congratulations to the players and coaches who once again represented the school so well. Thank you to the parents who made the time to transport and cheer on the students throughout the day. Special thanks to Teresa Galgani and Katherine Aldcroft for their organisation and preparation for the day.

State Athletics Championships- Congratulations Again Jake!

Incredibly Jake once again represented the school last week, this time at the State Athletics Championships.

Remarkably, Jake came 2nd in the 1500m and 3rd in the 800m progress.

Jake was super happy with his efforts as were all of us at St Cecilia's with some the the classes even getting to watch his his first race live online. Jake, you are inspiring so many with you running and your attitude. Well done!

PE Lessons

In Physical Education this term, our Foundation and Year 1 students have been tumbling, jumping, and balancing their way through an exciting gymnastics program, while Years 2 to 4 have been hitting home runs and honing their batting skills in the fun game of tee ball. The older students in Years 5 / 6 have taken a more competitive turn, organising and participating in their own table tennis tournament as part of the Sport Education in PE program.

As we approach the final few weeks of the year, we're eagerly anticipating some more sporty game time. The senior levels will be trying their hand at European Handball and juniors, Tennis, adding a touch of diversity to their physical education experiences. We can't wait to see the enthusiasm, teamwork, and skills our students will continue to develop in these upcoming activities.

Jump Rope for Heart; Beginning Monday 13th November

I am excited to announce that St Cecelia's Primary School is participating in Jump Rope for Heart this year – a fantastic physical activity program by the Heart Foundation who have provided us with new ropes. There is an opportunity to fundraise as well. We will be having a 'Jump Off' Day during Wellbeing week and the following weeks of term, beginning Monday 13th November 2023.

By participating in Jump Rope for Heart this year, our students have been moving in fun and exciting ways using this favourite past time activity. We have ropes available on the school grounds and encourage everyone to help raise funds for lifesaving research and support programs.

Over the coming weeks your child is encouraged to build on their skipping skills which they learnt in Term 1 and 2, increase their physical activity, and also learn about heart health. And the program will end with our school-wide ‘Jump Off Day’ in their PE lessons in the weeks beginning Monday 13th November where your child gets to show off their new skipping skills to their friends.

Here are some video tutorials they may like to refer to - maybe parents, you would like to join them as well!

When you register your child online you’ll get access to additional skipping resources to help give your child a great reason to get away from the screens and get outdoors. Register and create your own secure webpage at www.jumprope.org.au/parents

By signing up online, you and your child can:

-          Easily raise funds online

-          Track skipping skills progress and earn virtual badges along the way

-          Post updates to your page so family and friends can follow their progress

-         Access additional skipping resources

Your child should have a ‘fundraising guide’ flyer to take home, which includes further information on the program. If you didn’t receive this, visit jumprope.org.au/parents for all the information that you need.
