Co-curricular - Junior Sport
Week 6 Junior Sport Update
This weekend will be the last round of Summer sport for the term and the last round of sport in the Junior School for the year. As such, coaches may ask boys to assist with returning kits and equipment back to the College. If you can, please help out by sending any equipment back to the College on Monday 20 November. After 18 November, there will be no further Saturday sport, this includes the Summer Sports Skills Program, for the Junior School and all training will cease. It has been a roller- coaster Summer season and I wish all our teams the very best for their last game this season.
To all the boys moving into Year 7 next year, I hope that you have enjoyed your Co-curricular experience in the Junior School and are looking forward to the opportunities available to you in the Senior School. No doubt there have been many memories formed by your time on the fields, courts and diamonds and I hope that they spur you on to greatness, both this weekend and into your futures.
Boys that have played Basketball this year will need to return their singlets in the week following the 18 November round of sport. Boys are to return their washed and folded singlet to me at my office at either Recess or Lunch and once returned, I will tick their names off my register. Any singlet unaccounted for will incur the cost of replacement.
On Friday 24 November, the Junior School will come together in the College Gym to celebrate the Co-Curricular year with our presentation evening. This is a compulsory event for all boys involved in sports, including Chess, and Debating and boys should be dressed in their College Summer uniform. Please note the blue cap is not needed for the evening. Starting promptly at 6:00 PM, awards will be presented to undefeated teams, best and fairest players, team awards, representative honours, and the converted award for Junior School Sportsman of the Year. This year, we have a guest speaker, a former Olympian, who will share his insights on sport and its benefits. Parents/carers are warmly invited to attend, however there will be supervision on the night in the gym. I look forward to seeing many of you there.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the parents/carers for their efforts in getting the boys to all their co-curricular activities this term and throughout the year. It is not an easy task, ferrying the boys all over Sydney. It is often a thankless task and one that we cannot do without. On behalf of all the coaches, we really appreciate your efforts in making sure the boys are where they need to be and for the unwavering support you give to the teams each and every week.
Good luck to all teams playing this weekend. Especially those looking to conclude the season undefeated.
