MATHS

A very big welcome, or welcome back to all for 2024. I am very excited to be taking on the challenge of the Key Learning Area Manager role for Maths this year. We are extremely proud of the hard work and outstanding results achieved by our Year 12 cohort last year. This is a reflection a fantastic commitment from both students and teachers across six years at McKinnon.

The year ahead is going to be very busy, with a new Victorian Curriculum to be implemented in 2025, and we are so fortunate to have such committed staff and students.

I am pleased to introduce the eight new teachers in Maths this year who bring a fantastic wealth of knowledge, experience, and energy.

Enver Bise

A little about me, I teach Maths and ICT, love all kinds of music (also play guitar), enjoy board games with my friends and like to grill in my backyard with my dog Milo, a 10-year-old German Shepherd.

Sarah Jolly

Hi, my name is Sarah Jolly and I am very excited to be joining McKinnon SC. This year I am teaching General Maths and Humanities. I have now been teaching for longer than most of the students have been alive. I taught at my last school in Glen Waverley for eight years and before that taught in both London and the Borneo part of Indonesia. I love travelling, reading and trying new things. I am looking forward to being part of the McKinnon community.

Anthony Joy

I've been teaching at McClelland College in Frankston for a bit over a decade, predominantly Methods, Spec, 7-10 Math and Physics. The wisdom I've gained has begun to show through as silver highlights over the last few years as I approach the end of my 30s.

I'm a generally introverted person, though shy is a poor descriptor, I generally just prefer to speak fewer words, lest necessary. As such I tend to enjoy smaller gatherings, particularly involving card/board games.

I'm a fan of all things knowledge, so trivia, documentaries, and reading; love to learn something new. I've been involved in martial arts for some years, currently training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for the last two years.

I moved to Cheltenham to be closer to McKinnon, but not too close, and so commonly get to enjoy the sunsets over the bay.

Jean Lee

I am a Maths and ICT teacher. This is my first year at McKinnon and I am loving the buzz and excitement. I am so excited to meet my classes. On the weekends, I play croquet and compete socially. I also love to cook and my favourite go to dish is the Thai Green Chicken Curry.

Mariza Pagel

Hi, my name is Mariza Pagel and I have taught Maths at various schools in Bayside and I look forward to teaching the Year 8 and 9 students at McKinnon this year. I love teaching Algebra and Measurement, as they are my favourite topics. When I’m not teaching, I enjoy reading crime novels, catching up with family and friends and taking my dog for long walks.

Amanda Phillips

I am new to teaching, having qualified in the middle of last year and teaching science at Cheltenham last semester. My background is in radiation oncology and I worked at Peter Mac before a career change brought me to teaching.

I have a husband, three sons and Freddy the dog at home, so I'm surrounded by boys and have heard more factoids about minecraft or fortnite than I ever imagined I would.  I love visiting family in Echuca/Moama, playing games and Collingwood.

Zoe Skeggs

My name is Zoe Skeggs and this is my first year teaching at McKinnon SC and I can't wait to get involved in all aspects of the school. Previously, I have taught Y7-12 maths for seven years. This year, I am teaching Year 7 ELMS, Year 10 Maths Methods and Year 12 General Mathematics.

Outside of maths, my interests include swimming and reading. I am looking forward to settling in and experiencing the McKinnon Magic.

Annette Torok

I am excited to be joining the McKinnon Secondary College school community as a Year 7 Maths teacher after working with the College for the past two years as a Casual Relief Teacher. I am Maths / Science trained and have worked at various schools in the past. I enjoy meeting new people, having a laugh and living life to the fullest!
