Dear Parents and Carers,

Today has been a day of many celebrations but the highlight has been acknowledging all of our teachers at St Joey’s as part of World Teacher’s Day. We are so blessed to have such dedicated, caring, professional teachers who are passionate about their work.

It was so heartwarming to move around to every class today and hear what students had to say about their teachers. We were able to capture these messages into books for each of the teachers and a slide show which we will share with the school community through this newsletter and on Facebook. Fr Paddy came to our celebration assembly this afternoon and blessed all of the teachers with the help of our students.

Our welcoming, friendly culture at St Joseph’s just doesn’t happen. It is the work of our teachers who set the example and promote positivity and kindness. I’m sure the parents, grandparents and wider community join me in showing our gratitude for all our teaching staff at St Joseph’s.

Thank you St Joey’s teachers for lighting the way for all our students and being that shining star in each of their lives.

Day for Daniel and Protective Behaviours

This term each class will be learning about Protective Behaviours in their Personal Development and Health lessons. We have acknowledged ‘Day for Daniel’ by all students wearing red today which aligns with our protective behaviours teaching in each class.

Centacare are supporting our teaching of Protective Behaviours with Stage 3 this term and the other stages next year. Mr Pratt has sent a Compass  invite to Stage 3 parents to attend a Parent Information Meeting on Thursday 2nd November at 2pm which will be facilitated by Janine Harrington from Centacare. This meeting is to inform parents of the language and content of the Stage 3 Protective Behaviours program Centacare will run in weeks 4 & 6.

We would love to see as many parents as possible but information will be sent to all parents regardless.

Kinder 2024 Transition Days

Our Kinder 2024 students had their second transition day today and they have been really settled. They seem very ready for school and have been interacting happily with other students during play time and lessons. No doubt they will be very tired tonight! We look forward to seeing them next Friday for their third day.

SJJU Social and Fundraising Committee Meeting

All are welcome to attend our final Social and Fundraising Committee Meeting next Wednesday 1st November starting 6pm at the Junee Hotel.

A big thank you to our Year 1 parents who are in the process of organising our infamous Joey’s Cup day on Tuesday 7th November.

God Bless

Angela Scott
