Week 4 Update!

It has been a wonderful first three weeks at LNPS! It has been amazing to see such a positive start to the term.  Across the school, English and Mathematics data is being collected in to inform timely and targeted teaching and learning. This information helps teachers respond to student needs and plan learning experiences that amplify growth.

Classrooms are also developing Learner Quality anchor charts to support students’ understanding of our Learner Qualities and what this looks like in practice. Together, these approaches will enable us to move into individual goal setting, ready for Learning Conferences.

Learning Conferences will commence from 16th March. Conferences provide valuable opportunities for students, teachers and families to discuss goals, learning progress and next steps. Bookings will open on 6th March, with further details about the booking process included in the Week 6 newsletter.

The transition into school has been excellent, particularly for our new Reception students. We would just like to reiterate that arriving at school on time ensures students are ready to fully engage in the day’s learning from the very beginning is vital. If you need any support in this area, please reach out to your child's classroom teacher or Leadership.

Developing Our Shared Understanding of Excellence at LNPS

Last Friday, our staff came together to continue our learning with Lee Crockett, with a focus on strengthening our shared understanding of what a Culture of Excellence means at LNPS.

This work is very much a work in progress. We are not presenting a finished product or a final statement. Instead, we are engaging in an ongoing process of refining our language, strengthening alignment, and ensuring that what we say about excellence truly reflects who we are and how we work. Like all meaningful improvement, this will continue to evolve through reflection, feedback and practice.

Our goal is clarity not perfection. We want a shared understanding that feels empowering, practical and lived in our everyday actions.

Excellence isn’t just about what we do,  it’s about how we do it together.

The 5 agreements are practical ground rules that shape the tone, pace, and quality of how we work and learn together.

  • Stay curious – Let’s wonder for a minute.

  • Be courageous – Let’s be willing to get it wrong.

  • Reframe – Let’s reframe that.

  • Trust the process – Let’s focus on now.

  • Grow together – Let’s make our learning visible.

These agreements created the conditions for honest conversation, reflection and collective thinking.

Our Why

As a staff, we explored and refined our understanding of Excellence at LNPS, beginning with our shared belief:

At LNPS, excellence is not an event or an outcome. It is a responsibility.

We believe every student deserves:

  • High expectations paired with kindness

  • Growth through reflection

  • A safe environment to take risks and learn

What Excellence Means at LNPS

Through collaborative discussion, staff strengthened a shared understanding that excellence at LNPS is:

  • A today discipline

  • Embedded in everyday actions

  • Built on effort, progress and improvement, not perfection

  • Collective, not individual

  • A way of being, not a program

Excellence lives in our daily decisions, our professional conversations and our classroom practice.

Empowering Teachers and Students

A key theme of the day was empowerment.

We discussed how excellence thrives in environments that are inclusive and built on trust. When teachers feel trusted and valued, they innovate, reflect and refine their practice. When students believe their effort matters and that they can improve, agency and self-efficacy grow.

Excellence is not something we give students. It is something we teach them to build.

Moving Forward

This learning was an important step in aligning our agreements, our language and our actions. By clarifying what excellence means at LNPS, we strengthen consistency across classrooms and create the conditions where both staff and students can thrive.

Our Culture of Excellence is not only future-focussed, it is lived daily, in how we show up, how we speak, how we reflect and how we grow together.

We look forward to continuing this journey as one community, united by shared language, shared understanding and shared responsibility.
