A Message from Parents & Friends

Hi everyone,

Welcome to Term 1 and a huge welcome to all our new families who have joined us this year. We hope that you enjoy being part of our community. We have an exciting year ahead with lots of wonderful events planned for both children and parents & guardians.

Here’s a recap of 2025 and what’s coming up in Term 1.

2025 Fundraising

What an end to 2025 we had! The Christmas fun day and concert raised $2766 and our adult only 90’s quiz night raised a wonderful $4756. Along with icy poles, Grandparents Day and family portraits, Term 4 saw us raise $9895. What an amazing amount to end the year on.

However, we can hear you all shrieking “just tell us the total for the year.” As a community, we raised:

$65,094.97

Thank you to every single family and community member that contributed to this amazing total. We really couldn’t have done it without you. It’s not lost on the school just how wonderful and generous the school community is as well as the surrounding community and businesses who all helped to make this possible.

This money will be going towards supporting the Soundswrite literacy program that is embedded in our school. Amy will be purchasing many take-home and in-class books to support the literacy learning across our school. What an achievement!!!

This is a record breaking amount for our school and signifies the generosity of you all.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

2026 Fundraising

With a brand new year ahead of us, much discussion took place late last year at school council to decide on what our fundraising item should be this year. We are delighted to announce, we will be fundraising for: CLASSROOM FURNITURE

The school has already purchased new tables and chairs that are arriving over the Easter holidays, but there is more furniture needed. A lot of what we have is either from when the school opened 35 years ago, or teachers have purchased their own to build their classrooms to create wonderful, accessible learning areas.

The school needs things like bookshelves (for all our wonderful new books), desks and chairs for teachers, display cabinets, display boards and much more. So 2026 is the year where we can really focus on the internal space of the school, with your support.

And with your help, we CAN achieve this!

Term 1 Events

Harmony Week Bake Sale

Monday 26th March sees us hosting a bake sale with contributions from across our school community.

This bake sale is a celebration of the diverse culture we have within our community and is extremely popular with adults and children alike.

Details will be coming out in the next few days about how you can get involved. You can also help set up and sell cakes on the day if you can’t bake! Please see the note about volunteering.

Colour Run

On Friday 27th March is our big fundraiser of the year! This school wide event has got even bigger this year as we’re encouraging families to run together (cost per family member to participate). There are exciting new challenges and features for this year. We have a fundraising total to achieve of $22,000 so we encourage everyone to be involved.

We will be launching this event next week so keep an eye out on Compass!!!!

If you wish to volunteer for this event, see the volunteer section below.

Special Lunch

On Thursday 26th March, we will be having our first special lunch of the year. We will be having Subway.

For all new parents, this day is where we send home pre-order forms for your child to select (if they wish) to have a sandwich, cookie and a drink and you get to have a day off making a lunchbox.

Forms will be sent home early March.

Hot Cross Bun Drive

We will be joining up with Bakers Delight this year to do an Easter Hot Cross Bun drive.  Delivery will be just before we break up for Easter. Online forms will be sent home in the coming weeks.

How can you help?

Our events and fundraising doesn’t happen by magic. There are a dedicated set of parents who plan and discuss and generally have an all round laugh at our parents & friends meetings.

Our meetings are held monthly and all the dates and discussions and minutes can be found on our facebook page:  https://www.facebook.com/share/g/1KcwFiqZWi/

Alternatively, if you cannot attend a meeting (or you simply don’t wish to, which is totally fine), but if you want to be part of an event, events or even selling Friday treats, then you can view what volunteering opportunities there are for the term.

We have an online portal that allows you to sign up for yourself and/ or a friend. But please note that you MUST have a working with childrens check to volunteer.

T

his portal is constantly updated so it’s good to save this somewhere and check frequently.

We look forward to achieving a really successful fundraising year to help finish off furnishing the school to create an even more spectacular learning environment for our children now and in the future.

Thank you for your continued support.
