Senior School

Kathy Fletcher - Deputy Principal, Senior School

It has been a wonderful start to the 2026 school year! The energy, enthusiasm, and readiness to settle back into familiar rhythms have been evident across the Senior School. Classrooms are alive once again with learning, and it is pleasing to see students reconnecting with teachers and friends.

We are delighted to welcome several new teaching staff to the Senior School this year.

  • Kate Esler – English
  • Joshua Lindsay – English
  • Stuart Hudson – Technical and Applied Studies (TAS)
  • Keiren Dibben – PDHPE
  • Harry McKimmie – PDHPE
  • Chris Kotzer – Science
  • Jean Knox – Mathematics
  • Samantha Bellerose – Dance
  • Jaimee Munro – Human Society and its Environment (HSIE)

Each brings valuable expertise, fresh perspectives, and a deep commitment to supporting our students. We look forward to the positive contributions they will make to our learning community.

One of the highlights of our first week was the inaugural Year 7 Welcome Event, where we proudly presented our newest Senior School students with their Class of 2031 pins. This pin symbolises both their step into the Senior School and their belonging within our community. This event is the first time we have formally celebrated this transition, made all the more special as we welcome five Year 7 classes for the very first time - a significant milestone in the growth of our school.

At the other end of the senior journey, our Year 12 students received their 2026 Senior Jumpers, an eagerly anticipated tradition that marks the beginning of their final chapter at Trinity. As they don their jumpers, we encourage our Year 12s to reflect on the legacy they wish to leave: how they will lead, how they will serve, and how they will contribute to shaping the tone and culture of the Senior School this year.

Senior School Mathematics

Mathematics Pathways In Years 9 and 10, Trinity runs three Mathematics courses - Mathematics Advanced, Mathematics Intermediate and Mathematics Standard. Each course is designed to best prepare students for Year 11 and 12. Students are placed in a Year 9 Mathematics course based upon formal and informal assessment information collected throughout Year 7 and 8.

Mathspace

We use Mathspace as our core online platform and physical textbook for Years 7–10. Online, students can access all Year 7–10 textbooks, complete targeted recommended tasks, and receive step‑by‑step support from the AI tutor, Milo. Students, teachers, and parents can also track progress and growth through the platform’s reporting tools.

Students also have access to physical copies of all Year 7–10 textbooks at the College. Our textbook bank helps reduce costs for families and allows students to access books from different year levels and courses as needed. Throughout the year, it is normal for students to use texts from above or below their current grade/course—this simply reflects where they are in their learning in a particular topic.

Next week, Mathspace is hosting a Parent and Carer Webinar to demonstrate how you and your child can use the platform to support ongoing mathematical learning.

Calculators

It is essential that every student brings a calculator to each Mathematics lesson – we want our students to be confident users of this important tool. We are currently transitioning from the CASIO fx‑82AU PLUS II to the CASIO fx‑8200AU. The new model includes a range of updated features designed to support students throughout their schooling.

Students in Years 7–8 have been asked to purchase the CASIO fx‑8200AU. Students in Years 9–12 may continue using the older model; however, if a replacement is needed due to loss or damage, we recommend purchasing the fx‑8200AU to ensure consistency moving forward.
