Teaching and Learning

Nash Clark - Director of Teaching and Learning

It has been a joy to learn about the wonderful opportunities available to College students, which highlight how well they are known, challenged, and supported. Even more rewarding has been witnessing the teaching and learning in action, reaffirming the distinctive value of a College education. In our ongoing commitment to your child, please find attached initial information about several important events taking place throughout Semester 1.

Semester 1 Student Progress Meetings

Student Progress Meetings provide a valuable opportunity for families and teachers to connect, discuss learning growth, and identify any emerging needs early. These conversations ensure that students receive timely, coordinated support and clear goals to help them thrive throughout the year.

The College Semester 1 Student Progress Meetings will be held;

Year 12 – Monday 9 February 2026 (bookings now open)

Junior School – Monday 2 March 2026

Year 7 to 10 – Thursday 19 March 2026 and Monday 20 April 2026

Year 11 – Tuesday 19 May 2026

The College aims to offer both in-person and online appointments to support greater accessibility for families. Information about booking, including instructions and scheduling windows, will be shared closer to the date.

NAPLAN 2026

Students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 will take part in NAPLAN from Wednesday 11 March 2026. These national assessments provide a snapshot of students’ developing literacy and numeracy skills and show how they are progressing against established national proficiency standards.

NAPLAN is one of several tools schools use to understand student learning. While it does not replace the ongoing assessments made by teachers, it offers additional information that helps guide teaching and supports students’ learning needs.

All tests are completed online (except Year 3 Writing). The assessments are adaptive, meaning the questions adjust in difficulty based on each student’s responses. This design helps keep students engaged while also providing teachers with accurate, detailed results.

If your child is absent, please follow the College’s usual procedures. Upon their return, the College will schedule a suitable time for any missed tests to be completed within the school’s testing window.
