Specialist Subjects

OASIS - Matt Butcher

Students will learn about all the various behavioural and structural adaptations of animals, including humans, and suggest how these may help them survive in their environments.

Art - Carmel Fitzgerald

The Year Fives will explore the ways in which artists communicate their views, beliefs and opinions in their artwork. The students will use these insights to inspire their creations, discussing the influence of the artworks on their art pieces.

They will extend their pattern work to express tone and movement.

Music – Kiara Cameron

Students will be learning to play the drums, focusing on simple rock beats that use the kick drum, snare and high hat.

They will learn different patterns to play along with songs such as ‘Another One Bites the Dust’ and ‘TNT’, gradually increasing in difficulty.

Science - Emma Jensen

Students will identify sources of light, both artificial and artificial, recognise that light travels in a straight path. They will also describe how shadows are formed and how they can be manipulated.

PE - Danielle Coates & Class Teachers

Our PE program will begin with swimming lessons, followed by our school swimming sports. Students will then revise the fundamental movement skills of throwing and catching, before moving on to the term’s focus: the forehand strike.

This skill will be developed through net and wall games, such as tennis, badminton, and volleyball. Students will also prepare for and participate in the school cross country.
