NATIONAL SCIENCE WEEK

National Science Week took place during Week 6, 15 to 23 August. This year's theme was 'Seeds of Science: Nurturing Knowledge For All', and the Science Learning Area certainly delivered plenty of exciting and engaging activities.

We quite literally launched our program at lunch on Monday 17 August and held lunchtime activities throughout the week, save for Thursday when the 120 Year Mass was held:

  • Monday 17 August – model rocket launches!

  • Tuesday 18 August – pop-up ice cream stand. Science teachers carefully crafted delicious ice cream by introducing dry ice to an unfrozen ice cream mixture.

  • Wednesday 19 August – awesome native animals. Enviro EDU brought snakes, lizards, a juvenile crocodile, and an adorable squirrel glider. These each captivated students for very different reasons.

  • Friday 21 August – excellent experiments. Interactive experiences in the science lab that lit up the afternoon and opened minds to possibilities.

  • All week long, we held daily trivia competitions. Students were in the running to win a prize each morning.

It is safe to say that our National Science Week activities abundantly nurtured knowledge during Week 6.
