Greetings from Shaun

Congratulations to Anita and family!
Hi NPS community,
Just a quick note from me to let you know that I’ve had my baby. We welcomed Lucy Eva Olsson on the 17th of July. We’re doing well and loving getting to know her. Well done Mila H who correctly guessed the name in the lead up!

It’s hard to believe but we are already close to the halfway mark of term. As we reach the end of another busy and rewarding fortnight at Northcote Primary School, there is certainly plenty to celebrate and look forward to.
Prep 100 Days of School
Last week we celebrated a very special milestone for our Prep students - 100 days of school!
In the morning our preps shared a special rendition of ‘When I’m 100 Years Old’ with their families. Throughout the day, they took part in a range of activities focused on the number 100, and celebrated all of their learning and achievements over the first 100 days. A very big thank you to our Prep team, Meg and Brigitte, for organising such a special day.
Grade 3/4 Camp
Next week, our Grade 3/4 students, teachers, and parent helpers head off to Camp Toolangi. Students will participate in a range of outdoor activities, including a high ropes course, rock climbing, archery, obstacle course and bushwalking. We wish them all the best and hope that the weather is kind!
Trivia Night
We are looking forward to our annual trivia night this Saturday 8th August. Thank you to Lucy and the fundraising sub-committee for all of their hard work organising this event. Our trivia night is our second biggest fundraiser, after our fete. This year, all funds raised will go towards purchasing new reversible basketball/netball hoops for our school.
Baby news
Congratulations to Anita and her family who welcomed their baby girl Lucy into the world earlier this term. Everyone is doing well and enjoying this special time together.
Book Week - reminder
This term Book Week is going to be celebrated in Week 7 and the theme is ‘Symphony of Stories’.
We will be having a whole school dress-up day and parade on Monday 24th August at 9am, so note this date down in your diaries. Please refer to the Compass information sent out by Meagan for more information.
Mobile Phones and Smart Watches
A reminder that students who bring mobile phones or smart watches to school must have them switched off and securely stored during school hours. This means that all devices, including smart watches, must be handed in to the office by 9am each morning. Recently we have found that some students are forgetting this step. We would appreciate your support in having a conversation with your child about these expectations if they bring a phone or smart watch to school.
Mobile phones or smart watches owned by students at Northcote Primary School are considered valuable items and are brought to school at the owner’s (student’s or parent/carer’s) risk. Students are encouraged not to bring a mobile phone or smart watch to school unless there is a compelling reason to do so.
Updating family and student information
A reminder that it is important to keep us up to date with any new information -
change of address, phone numbers, changes to family circumstances and student's medical conditions - this assists us to provide the best possible support for your child. Please contact the office or email if information details have changed for your child or your family.
2027 Prep Enrolments
A reminder to families that enrolment offers for 2027 Foundation have been sent out and families have until Friday 28th August to confirm their place. We look forward to welcoming our 2027 prep students and beginning our transition program during Term 4.
Take care,
Bec
