  • Time: 5:30pm – 7:30pm
  • Location: Campus Top Oval
  • What’s on: Free BBQ tea

Come along for a relaxed evening of connection, fun and food. Bring your children, bring your appetite and let’s hang out together! Registration details for the event will be sent out closer to the time to assist with catering.

Campus Book Fair - Save the Date

The Campus Book Fair is returning next term. It wil be held over three days. Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th October (Week 2 Term 4) and Tuesday 28th October (Week 3, Term 4).

Welcome

Welcome to Holly and her family, as she commences Year 2 at Pilgrim School this term. We pray rich blessings on you as you start at Pilgrim, that you soon feel like you really belong here, can explore in your learning and flourish in who you are.

Congratulations

It is a very exciting time for Edidiong, Elina, Malcolm (Year 1) and Frederick (Year 3), as they have recently welcomed a baby sister to their family! Congratulations.

Staff News

As previously announced we will have an additional Year 1/2 class at Pilgrim School next year. We are excited that Carla Wiegels has been appointed to teach this class.

We also welcome Chelsea Fisher as the mid-year Foundation class teacher. This class is in addition to the two Foundation classes commencing at the beginning of the year.

If you have friends or neighbours who may be interested in enrolling in one of these year levels, please encourage them to contact us through our website or at enrol@pilgrim.sa.edu.au.

New Staff Appointment

Pilgrim School has just appointed a school chaplain to work with staff, students, and families as part of our Wellbeing Team.

We are excited to announce that Billie Jo Cook will be working in this role 10 hours a week starting at the beginning of Term 4. Many of you will know Billie Jo as she is a part of our Inclusive Education Team.

Billie Jo has worked in a similar chaplaincy capacity as a Christian Pastoral Support Worker at Mount Compass Area School over the last few years.

We are delighted that Billie Jo will be with us working additional hours as she continues to work as an Education Support Officer (ESO) as well as her new role as chaplain.

Congratulations Libby

On Friday of Week 7, Libby Spencer presented a session at the Association of Independent Schools of South Australia (AISSA) training day for new career teachers entitled 'Working with AI/Technology in the Primary Setting'. We are very grateful for Libby’s expertise in this important and rapidly changing field.

2026 Class Placement Considerations

This week, families in Foundation to Year 5 should have received an email regarding class placement considerations:

Dear Families,

Our teaching staff and Inclusive Education team have continued to gain a deeper understanding of the strengths, needs and areas for growth for all children in the Pilgrim community during 2025. Early next term, the staff team will begin the process of placing children in their respective classes for 2026. During this process, our team will discern the best placement for each child as they consider the combination of students to facilitate quality learning in each class.

You are welcome to communicate any specific social, emotional or academic needs that you believe are key to share with the staff team as they collaboratively work on class placements. Please be aware that in 2026, we will have three classes of Year 1/2; three Foundation classes with two of these commencing at the beginning of the year, and one starting mid-year; and two classes each of Year 3/4 and Year 5/6.

If you would like to provide information, please complete this 2026 Class Placement Considerations form by Friday 17th October (end of Week 1 next term). All staff responsible for the placement of children will be able to access this information. We appreciate that families will not utilise this to communicate the requests of specific teachers.

A reminder too that families need to use this Withdrawal form to advise the school by the end of Term 3 (Friday 26th September) of any student not in Year 6 this year who will not be enrolled at Pilgrim School for 2026.

Kind regards,

Andrew Edmondson

Wellbeing Day

On Friday 12th September, our students enjoyed a very special Wellbeing Day with a Lego theme. The day was filled with creativity, teamwork, and fun as students engaged in a wide variety of activities.

We were fortunate to be joined by guest presenter, Micah Sarre, a former Pilgrim student who now works professionally in the Lego industry through his company Micsar Built Designs. Micah designs and builds Lego creations for events, clients, and projects, turning his passion for building into a unique career. He also shared about his personal faith journey and how it shapes the work he does.

Throughout the day, Micah led exciting Lego workshops with each class. Students took part in hands-on activities and challenges, and our Year 5/6 students even got to see the software Micah uses to digitally design his intricate builds. When not working with Micah, students enjoyed a range of Lego-themed crafts and creative activities.

It was a wonderful day of learning, imagination, and fun. We are very thankful to Micah for sharing his gifts and time with us. Families can learn more about his work at www.micsarbuiltdesigns.com.au

Grandparents' and Special Friends' Day

The school was abuzz on Wednesday of Week 7 with around 200 grandparents and special friends visiting the school for our biannual Grandparents' and Special Friends' Day. The visitors enjoyed a delicious Devonshire tea with scones made by the Year 6 students, spent time in classrooms and attended the Celebration Service in the Performing Arts Centre. The service was hosted by four of our Year 6 students and featured performances by the choir and Year 3/4 students who played the Indonesian Angklung. The Foundation students also presented a poem about Grandparents. It was a memorable day, celebrating the important role grandparents and special family friends play in the lives of the students.

If you would like to view a video of the Celebration Service, you can access this via the link in the 'School Favourites' tile on the Compass App or Portal. Videos will remain available for viewing for approximately 4 weeks after the event. Please note these are raw videos and not professionally filmed or produced. We ask that you please do not share any part of these videos on any platform.

Belong and Blossom Playgroup

Belong and Blossom is for children 0 - 5 years old and their parents and/or carers. It takes place on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9.00am - 10.45am during the school term in the Tween room. Please contact the Front Office, so you can receive our weekly emails letting you know about the week ahead. Registration takes place during your first playgroup session.

This is a time to connect with other parents and for your child to begin their connection with Pilgrim and some of the teachers in the Early Years team. We have story, craft and play times. We share fruit together and end our session with a story and some songs.
