Student Celebrations

SSA National Cross-Country Championships
Congratulations to Milana Farfalgia, who recently spent 5 days up in the Gold Coast at the SSA National Cross Country Championships. New Zealand also brought a team over to compete.
Milana's Team - TeamVic 12yo girls were an incredibly strong team and won 2 silver medals!
🥈3km race
🥈1.5km relay
To top off this amazing racing carnival, two of the biggest highlights was when all of Australia’s and New Zealand’s top distance runners took over SeaWorld for the day, and the Pilot congratulating the team over the PA on the flight home!
Well done to Milana on representing her State, and on becoming a Silver National Medalist!
Wembley Worms: Hockey 7s - State Runners Up
Congratulations to our Year 5/6 Hockey players, who competed in the State Championships in Week 8. Thank you to Kelly Laidlaw and parent, Kylie Feely, on their support and coaching of the team.
To my Wembley worms. Well done. Just a few words on the games from your coaches perspective.
Aalia, the bringer of face paint and always smiling. You bought the fun.
Charlotte, likes a chat in the back line before switching on to take on the defence. Well done.
Willa who took our short corner hit outs and was precise and exact with all of them. The Team player.
Scarlett who had the most face paint on. It just got more and more as the day went on and I am pretty sure is responsible for the face paint in the hair.
Evelyn on the post who snuck in a couple of sneaky goals and was too cool for face paint. Great skills.
Margot who played wherever I asked her to and just kept going even when we were down.
Violet our top goal scorer who also made sure all the team at regionals got at least one goal. She took a few hits for the team and even injured, kept playing. Double teaming with Jade made our team unstoppable through all of the competition.
Iris who never minded sitting on the bench when I needed someone to volunteer and then marked her player ferociously when on the field. And didn’t mind when I constantly called her Ivy. Sorry about that. Blame Jade she tricked me.
Jade who played every minute of every game, whose dedication and support of her team was something to behold. You are an amazing player and I can’t wait to see where your hockey journey takes you.
And finally Eve who captained the team with grace and showed true friendship. She was a fantastic leader. When Jade needed support, Eve was there all day helping her. Eve showed it is not necessarily the best player that makes the best captain, it is someone who understands what their team needs and you delivered that today.
Well done girls, silver medalists and most importantly you showed compassion throughout the day for everyone around you and were graceful in your victories. True sportsmanship and what SSV school sport is all about. Go Wembley Worms.
Kind regards,
Kylie Feely.
XC National Champs
On Friday 5th September 2025 Charlotte Meissner represented Wembley Primary School in the Cross Country Skiing event of the Australian Interschools Snowsports Championships, which were held at Mt Buller. The event involved a 1km race around the course. Competition was fierce and the talent and endurance on show was admirable.
