Principal's Message

.At Wembley Primary School, we acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land on which our school sits, the Woi-wurrung and Boonwurrung people of the South-Eastern Kulin Nation.
We celebrate and respect the oldest continuing culture and recognise the importance of education in truth telling, equity and justice.
We pay our respects to Elders past and present and recognise and value the learning that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, colleagues and community bring into our schools.
Term 4: Week 7-9 Update
As we wrap up Term 3, we want to celebrate the wonderful efforts and achievements of our students and staff. It has been a busy and exciting term, filled with opportunities to learn, grow and take part in a wide range of extracurricular events. From Philanthropy Day, to 5/6 Sports Gala Days, to the Musical Performance and Camp Experiences in the junior years - never mind the daily wins in classrooms!
Throughout the term our students have shown an incredible level of engagement and participation in school life, which makes the hard work our teachers put in to shape these events, all worth it. I would like to specifically acknowledge our teaching staff, who each week, in one way or another, have gone above and beyond to provide numerous events and opportunities to enrich the school experience for our students.
Below, we will showcase the latest of these events; Spanish Day, Paws & Claws - the Musical, along with a few other highlights.
Moving into Term 4, we are going to trial a slightly different approach to sharing school news and events. We are going to reduce the frequency of the newsletter to twice a term, but increase the input from teaching teams, so that each year level contributes to a dedicated page which will showcase student work, curriculum foci and extra-curriculur events for their year level. We hope that this will provide a more meaningful insight into what is happening within your child's classroom, as well as touching on whole school events. In lieu of the fortnightly publication we will trial a fortnightly bulletin, which will provide timely updates about upcoming events/key dates and any news that doesn't require an independent Sentral email. Potential name - 'Principal's Post' - other suggestions are welcome! The first of these will be sent out in the final week of the school holidays, ie: 'Week 0' and then followed up on the Friday of Week 2.
Important information was shared via Sentral email about 2026 Class Formations and Considerations - we ask that all parents ensure that they have read this email, in particular if your family will be travelling or absent for Week 1 of Term 4, as there are due dates and deadlines associated with sharing Learning Buddy Circles and Class Considerations.
Finally, Vassie reached out to share that she will continue in her Acting Principal role at Melton Primary School for the remainder of the 2025 School Year. I will therefore continue as Acting Principal at Wembley for this year, and we will update the school community regarding 2026 as soon as we have clarity ourselves.
Thank you for all your community support this term - its been a busy one, but a fun and happy one. Wishing you all a wonderful Term 3 Holidays - we look forward to seeing you back on Monday October 6.

Paws & Claws - The Musical
An enormous thank you to Alison Briskey - lead music teacher, and her counterpart, Gina Tan, for the the incredible Year 5/6 performance. It was a truly engaging and delightful evening, that showcased the incredible talent that we have within our school. There were a number of other people and parents involved in their support of the evening - and we extend our thanks to you all.
Spanish Day
One of the core highlights from the term and school year thus far - a monumental effort by by our Spanish teachers: Dennis and Vanessa. An instrumental guitarist welcomed parents and students to the school, playing outside the Administration Office entrance, which set the tone for the day. Each class studied a different country that reflects Spanish culture - spanning Europe and South America, students participated in the Murga Madre dance incursion; an Argentinean style carnival dance & percussion group as well as watching the Staff v Student soccer competition at lunchtime. All being said - everyone's highlight remained the Churros Truck!
Upcoming Events & General Reminders
RU OK? Day: Well done and thank you to our JSC and whole school effort on raising $379 for Kids Helpline
Return to School: Monday October 6
Holiday Works: Shade Sail Construction - all being well, this should go up over the holidays. Otter Fencing will also be in to complete the fence extensions on the St Leonards/Wembley Ave perimeter.
Ensure you read the Sentral Communication regarding 2026 Class Formations and Class Considerations. Learning Buddy Circles will completed in class during Week 1, and parent Class Considerations are due strictly by end of Week 1: 10/10/25
