Tips for surviving the last, final push in Year 12
Well done to all Year 12s for getting this far through the year. There’s lots to look forward to, but at the same time, we can all appreciate that you might be feeling “utterly over studying”. This is not an uncommon feeling, and honestly it’s one that’s common towards the end of any study/ apprenticeship path you take. Keep putting one foot in front of the other, and you will get there.
How to keep pushing through these last few steps.
1. Set yourself a study planner – allocate time to study each subject – but be realistic.
2. Balance is important, allow yourself time to spend with friends and to go out. This time away from study is actually important, as it helps your mind to process and understand what you’ve learned.
3. We all have our own way to study effectively – and don’t be afraid to change it, if your usual method isn’t working. Sometimes people find that even changing pens or changing to using a pencil can help the brain to think.
4. Use pen and paper to write notes while studying – it’s amazing how the physical act of writing helps the brain to process and understand things.
5. Just do your best at the time. It is worth it, so there's no regrets.
