Principal's message

As we reach the final week of what has been a very busy and exciting Term 3, it’s a great time to pause and reflect on the wonderful opportunities our students have been part of over the past nine weeks. From celebrating the Preps’ 100 Days of School, dressing up for Book Week, and competing at the Athletics Carnival, to exploring culture and diversity during our Cultural Day, our students have been engaged in experiences that enrich their learning and strengthen our school community.

We’ve also seen students represent Solway with pride in AFL 9s, hockey, and netball competitions, participated in the SEA program, tested themselves through ICAS assessments, and enjoyed connecting with family and community at our Father's and Special Others Open Morning. Each of these events reflects our school vision of empowering curious and caring learners to thrive in an inclusive community. They give our students the chance to be curious, to show care for themselves and others, and to grow through challenge and achievement. They also bring our values of Respect, Responsibility, and Resilience to life in meaningful ways.

Thank you to our dedicated staff for their energy and commitment in making these opportunities possible, and to our parents and carers for your ongoing support. Together, we continue to provide our students with rich experiences that help them learn, grow, and thrive. I wish all families a safe, happy, and restful holiday break. Whether you are travelling or enjoying time closer to home, I hope you return refreshed and ready for an exciting Term 4. A reminder that school resumes at 8:50am on Monday 6th October.

Snow Sports Success

Congratulations to Grace and Fraser, who recently represented Solway PS at the Victorian and Australian Interschool Snowsports Championships at Mt Buller. Grace achieved some outstanding results placing 2nd in Alpine GS, 5th in Skier Cross, and 9th in Moguls. Fraser, in his very first time competing, placed 26th in Alpine GS and 29th in Skier Cross. Grace went on to qualify for nationals in all three events, choosing not to compete in Moguls so she could attend the Grade 3/4 camp. At the Australian Championships, she placed 4th in Alpine GS and 15th in Skier Cross.

Swimming Program – Term 4

A reminder that our Prep to Year 2 students will be participating in the swimming program from Monday 6 October to Friday 17 October (Weeks 1 and 2 of Term 4).

Our Year 3 and 4 students will then take part in their program from Monday 20 October to Friday 31 October (Weeks 3 and 4).

Event notifications will be sent out via Compass this week. We do apologise for the short notice, as we were awaiting final confirmation of costings and logistics from the swim school.

SWPBS Whole School Reward

Once again our students have had a successful term demonstrating our school values, earning tokens as part of our Positive Behaviour reward system. Taylor House won the term, and have decided on a pyjama day for our whole school reward. Students can wear their PJs to school on Friday 17 October.

I would like to finish with a friendly reminder to all members of our school community to be respectful of the opinions and beliefs of others while on school grounds, including during pick-up and drop-off times. By modelling respect in our everyday interactions, we help create the inclusive and supportive environment where all members of our community can thrive.

Thank you for your continued support and lets all strive to be “our best always”.
