Celebration of 10 years in the Priesthood
On Sunday 7th September a large crowd gathered together at the 9.30am Mass to celebrate a decade of servantship. Fr Novie’s passion and dedication to his congregation and beyond is certainly worthy of celebration.
Many of our learners produced cards of congratulations, many of wish depicted images of a ‘trendy’ and ‘colourful’ young man. The images drawn by the Year 1 learners were cast on the screen during the Mass and were a delight to be seen.
Please continue to pray for Fr Novie as he has begun his sabbatical, nurturing his faith, his servanthood and prayer life. Fr Novie will return in December.
We are blessed to be led by Fr Des Wellesden during the next three months and look forward to his leadership at our school and parish Masses.
Socktober
‘Socktober’ engages learners to make a difference by raising awareness and critical funds for mission programs supporting children from disadvantaged and vulnerable backgrounds in many countries around the world.
This is achieved using the ‘Head, Heart and Hand’ model.
October marks World Mission Month, a celebration of the global work of the Church and the dedication of missionaries, both religious and lay, as they reach out and support children and communities in need around the world.
Wednesday 22nd October, is Children’s Mission Day, which we will celebrate through liturgy and events promoting ‘Socktober’.
Odd & Old socks for Socktober
Every household has an odd or old sock or two!
Each year level will collect donations of odd and old socks.
Each week the tally of socks will be recorded and shared with Year levels and across the school.
At the end of Week 3, the highest number of Individual socks donated by a Year level will be sought.
In Week 4, the socks collected in each classroom will be formed into a ‘sock-erball’ by each classroom of learners and their teacher and they will use these to conduct a ‘Knee-Ups’ competition on Wednesday 29th October.
Wednesday 22nd October, is Children’s Mission Day, which we will celebrate through liturgy and events promoting ‘Socktober’. Learners are asked to wear odd socks on Wednesday 22nd October and to donate a gold coin into their Classroom sock!
Which Year level will raise the most funds?
