Today we celebrated Recognition Day! This is a day where we provide a focus on the basis of our SOLE framework - which is to recognise positive behaviours.  We are doing this today by dressing as our Heroes.  In the morning TA students were invited to join in on fun activities which reminded us of the value of all the good things we do, and importance of building strong relationships with peers, between staff and educators.

One of the goals that the Year 12 Leadership group set for themselves this year was to improve student voice within the College.  They have been gathering feedback from each of the school communities and providing this back to College Leadership.  Students in our junior communities indicated that they wanted more opportunities for fun interactions with senior students.  The Year 12 Leaders have initiated a Friday lunchtime activities program which will see Year 12 and Year 8 Leaders running activities for our students in the F - 4 Community.  This launched today and provided a strong connection to the purpose of Recognition Day.  We can’t wait to share photos of this initiative!

We are looking forward to hosting a Digital Wellbeing Workshop for families on 5 June at the College. The event will start at 6.30pm and conclude at 7.30pm. It will be held in the PoP  Auditorium.  This presentation gives parents and caregivers the opportunity to reflect on their family’s digital wellbeing.  It explores practical tips and strategies to create healthy habits around screen time to positively impact relationships and strengthen connections within the home.

Students from Year 3 to Year 12 undertook a wellbeing survey through The Resilience Project.  We use this data to know our students better, to understand what is going well and what we might need to work toward improving.  The data provides us with an important guide on our students’ readiness to learn.  I have included a link to the  girls and boys data so parents can see how our students have responded to the survey.  For your reference, data which is green and bright green indicates that students have responded positively in comparison to the Australian norm.  Orange or red indicates that they have responded lower or less than the Australian norm.  Whilst there are many areas of this data which indicate strengths and resilience in our students, you will notice there are some areas where we can support our students better.  An area that parents can help is in the area of sleep hygiene.  Our brains do not function well when there is a lack of sleep. You may notice that this is a problem, especially identified by girls in Year 5 and Year 7 and boys in Year 3 and 4. We aim to encourage our students to develop healthy routines at home to support their learning. Parents can help by ensuring students develop good sleep hygiene at home.  A great practice to develop is to have a device-free bedroom at night - that way you are assisting by reducing the level of distractions which inhibit good sleep.

At present we are inducting two new members to our Wellbeing Team - Alannah and Tess.  Next term we will welcome Jess!  We farewelled Sandy and Jake recently who have both moved on to explore different roles and we wish them all the very best.

We look forward to sharing some photos of today with you through social media and our next newsletter!
