Junior School Coote is sharing the learning taking place in their class…
On Monday the 6th of May the year 1 classes were lucky enough to attend the World of Maths incursion. Students were very excited to experience a range of different learning activities and utilise a variety of problem-solving skills that they have built so far.
Students broke up into small groups and were able to move around the activities at their own pace so they could show their resilience and stick with an activity until they were finished, even if it was a bit tricky. Students tested out their 3D Object knowledge while trying to put together puzzles of pictures of 3D objects.
There was also a maze that students had to move around to try and get the milk from the cow to the barn by going through the least number of gates.
Students worked as a team to complete an activity with many doors, where they had to follow the directions found under the coloured door to try and find Katie the cat.
Students had to use some of their exploration skills as a team to find the path to the pirate’s treasure and balance planks to build a bridge between two roads.
There were so many fun activities for the Year 1s to participate in with their friends and we had a great time joining in this maths fun!
