Clean up Australia Day

Australia Day Clean Up

The 3/4 community were involved in a clean up Australia Day walk to Woolley's beach.

The rest of the school community cleaned our school yard.

The Mangrove Warriors then conducted an audit on the litter that was picked up.

The audit of the litter in our school yard showed a lot of food waste from lunch boxes. Also the main contributor to waste was soft plastic.

Soft plastic is any plastic that can be scrunched in your hand.

Soft plastics are chips, chocolate, cling wrap, biscuits and lolly wrappers.

This term we are concentrating on a Waste Free Wednesday to see if we can cut downusing soft plastic and find alternative products or a different way to package our food.

If everybody makes a little change we could see a big difference!
