Wellbeing

We have seen a number of Wellbeing programs in place to support our students during Autumn. A highlight was the successful grant application in partnership with

Schools Focused Youth Services, which will run the Bridge Builders program in Semester Two.

Presentations and programs that have occurred so far include

  • Susan McLean Cyber Safety (Year 8 and 9)
  • Pat Cronin Foundation (Year 8 and 9)
  • Stress Anxiety presentations with Senior School
  • Wellbeing lunchtime groups
  • Brainstorm Production incursion
  • ABCN Program

We have continued to run our breakfast club two mornings per week, which has proven to be very popular with our students. Tri Tactics has also continued during this time, where we work with smaller groups of students focusing on social and emotional regulation.

As part of our efforts to integrate Wellbeing initiatives as part of our mainstream curriculum, this year we have partnered with The Resilience Project for Year 7 and 8 to embed explicit teaching practices to develop empathy, gratitude, mindfulness and emotional literacy.

Term 2 has been a busy term, with our College participating in both Harmony Week celebrations and Reconciliation Week.

Harmony Week was a time where students and staff immersed themselves in a wide range of activities and celebrations. These included:

  • African Drumming
  • Mehendi (Henna)
  • Bollywood Workshop
  • Cultural Showcase
  • Cultural dress
  • Silent Disco
