CURRICULUM FOCUS

As part of our writing block, we will continue with one of our focuses in writing which is writing a ‘recount’. 

VOCABULARY

Recount: a piece of writing about something you have done for example something you did on the weekend, a holiday you went on, a birthday etc. 

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

With your child discuss some things that you have done recently for example a place you visited, a move you might have watched, a walk you might have gone on etc. 

Next have your child draw a picture of what they did. Once they have drawn their picture ask them to explain what they have drawn/what they did. 

Then have your child have a go at writing a sentence about what they did. 

*Please encourage your child to record the sounds they can hear in each word even if its just the first sound of each word. You can also encourage your child to refer to their M100W book to assist with the spelling of M100W they know that might be in their sentence.
