Basketball State Finals

Today the Year 9 SEP students with 2 former SEP students ventured over to Nunawading Basketball Centre to play in the Victorian College Championships qualifying round.

Expectations were not high as they would be coming up against Year 10 teams but building to next year. Boy, was I mistaken as Liam, Fraser, John, Tom with help from Ben and Minos took it right up to the first of 2 Berwick teams we beat today.  We had a reality check against Whitefries who ran us off the court. So we finished 2nd in our pool and normally that gets you into a semi final, but today it was only the top 2 teams (one from each pool) who went straight into a Grand Final.

Well done to the boys, all credit to them.

Congratulations also to Jimmy, Jesse, Nathan and Dante who competed in the Under 17 State 3X3 finals on April 23 at the State Basketball Centre. 

After a tough 8 games they came away with a 4th placing, just running out of steam in the semi (lost by 3 ) and the play off for 3rd.

Thanks to Tom and Xander who while injured were great scorers across all of the games.
