Principal's Message

Dear Families,

This week is National Reconciliation Week, at the heart of reconciliation is the relationship between the broader Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. To foster positive race relations, our relationship must be grounded in a foundation of truth.

Why this week?

27 May: Is the anniversary of the 1967 referendum and the start of National Reconciliation Week.

3 June: Mabo Day, when the High Court of Australia recognised that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have a special relationship to the land.

This week is significant for all Australians. This week celebrates and builds on the respectful relationships shared by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other Australians. It is an opportunity to remember, reflect, acknowledge, accept, celebrate stories and journeys. It is a time for all of us to join the national reconciliation effort.

Visit from MACS Executive Director

This afternoon we welcomed MACS Executive Director, Dr Ed Simons, to our school. He spent some time speaking to staff, visited the children on the playground and in their classrooms, and had a tour of our facilities. It was wonderful to show him around and speak to him about all the developments happening in our amalgamation with Emmaus.

First Eucharist

This Sunday we will celebrate the Sacrament of First Eucharist at 2pm at St Christopher’s Church. We wish to congratulate the following Holy Saviour students who will be receiving the Eucharist for the very first time: Rachael Parisella and Zara Onans.

Principal Cuppa & Chat

Thank you to all the parents (& grandparents) who were able to join me for this term's Principal Cuppa & Chat yesterday afternoon. It was great to chat and share with you some of the positive & exciting things that are happening around the place at the moment. If you missed this one, don’t worry, there’ll be another opportunity next term!

Semester One Reports & Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences

On Tuesday 25th June from 2pm to 5.30pm and Wednesday 26th June from 2pm to 6pm our Semester One Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences will take place for all students.

Semester One school reports will be distributed to all families on Friday 21st June. This will give families five days to dissect, interpret and absorb their child’s report, and bring discussion points to the Parent Teacher interview. Interviews are strictly for 15 minutes so please be on time as this will keep things flowing on the evening. Details on how to book will be released next week.

Division Cross Country!

We congratulate the eight children who represented Holy Saviour in the Division Cross Country on Wednesday. You all put in a fantastic effort and we are extremely proud of you all. Well done and congratulations to Indy (79th), Tom (40th), Daniel (67th), Thomas (72nd), Dom (73rd), Theresa (22nd), Tyson (85th), and Clare (65th).

This will enable us to develop a clear picture of classing and group sizes for 2025. Enrolments for 2025 are to be made through the Emmaus portal

Final Thoughts - Avoiding ‘safetyism’

Maggie Dent is an author, educator, and parenting and resilience specialist with a particular interest in the early years and adolescence, and she is someone who keeps me grounded and real about being a Dad and a Principal. Yesterday she posted an article titled Avoiding ‘safetyism’ and allowing our kids to stretch and growabout how we can help our children stretch and grow without being “helicopter parents” or wrapping our kids up in cotton wool. I’d encourage everyone to take the time to read this latest blog post.

Kind regards,
