Year 5

Science

This term in Science Year 5  are exploring Matter. We have begun by investigating the four states of matter: solid, liquid and gas and to find out  they can or cannot be compressed. Year Five formed groups and attempted to compress a large syringe filled with sand, another with water and another with air. There was lots of discussion, and the students enjoyed being hands on with their work. We also found out that in 1920 a fourth state of matter was identified: plasma. Students researched what plasma is and it's properties.
