Year 8 Visual Communication Design
As part of Year 8 Visual Communication Design, students have been set the task of producing their own Superhero/Character Cityscapes to expand their knowledge of different drawing methods. To produce these unique drawings, they were introduced to the drawing method of Two-Point Perspective. This enabled the students to draw their 3D cities, close to how we would see them with our own eyes. To further enhance the cities, they were required to add superheroes, villains, anti-heroes, or characters to tell a story in their drawings. Please take a look at their exciting pieces below.

SIS Book in a Day
The SIS Book in a Day competition requires teams of eight students to produce a fully illustrated 4000-to-6000-word novella over the course of eight hours. It is a brilliant Cultural Activity run by the SIS, beginning in Term 3 with a Writing and Illustrating Workshop Day. Here our students worked with professional authors and illustrators. This was followed a few weeks later by the Competition Day. Our 2024 team was comprised of five Year 7 students and three Year 8 students. Team members from 2023, Tori and Bella, mentored the team leading up to the competition, giving them lots of tips to help them bring their best to the competition.
Our wonderful team worked beautifully together to plan, write, and illustrate their novella, producing a fabulous novella titled Submerged Secrets. To our absolute delight, on Presentation Day this term, the Nazareth College team was awarded 4th place amongst a field of 15 schools, winning $100 worth of books for the Resource Centre from the competition sponsor, Campion Education. What a wonderful achievement for our young team.
Congratulations to Annabelle, Ayla, Edwina, Stephanie, Kasiana, Ava, Alana and Masa.
