Principal's Report
Dear Parents, Guardians and Friends of Nazareth
VCE exams are well underway and will conclude on Monday 18 November. We encourage and keep in our prayers each of the students that are undertaking exams. May they be able to flourish and express all their related learning to the best of their abilities.
In the coming weeks Years 9, 10 and 11 exams will also be undertaken by our students. It is hoped that leading up to these exams, our students will devote time and effort into their revision and utilise the exam experience to their advantage.
Currently, we have a number of year levels that are fully prescribed for 2025. I ask families who are planning alternative schooling or are moving away in 2025 to please inform the College in writing. We can then contact families on our waiting list.
Last Friday our College celebrated the diversity of the school's cultural makeup. In times like the present, I believe it is important to highlight the manner in which a multitude of cultural backgrounds can harmoniously come together within the school community and celebrate as one. We have so much to learn from each other and, together, our lives and experiences can be much richer and fulfilled.
This week our Leadership Team spent a day outside of the school working and planning on how we can continue to build on our successes and continue to make the College a better Learning and Spiritual community. We were able to draw on outcomes from our recent Review and MACSSIS data. Such data gives us comparisons between MACS (Melbourne Archdioceses Catholic Schools) averages and our own. It also lists our data from previous years. Our analysis enables us to compare schools across the boards to Nazareth and helps us determine our strengths and areas of concern.
The MACSSIS survey involved three groups of people in our community - families, staff and students. Sadly, despite our size, only a small number of families responded, leaving us with data that it is not comprehensive and not a true snapshot of where families see the school. I urge you to please assist in the future by supplying feedback.
Our response from staff and students was better subscribed and gave us the following key areas that we will focus on in the coming year:
- School engagement
- Teacher/student relationships
- Feedback
- Collaboration in teams
- Collective Efficacy
We hope that we can bring about favourable improvements.
Enjoy the upcoming long weekend.
God Bless.
Mr Sam Cosentino
