Australian Water Polo Representative - Minty Welsh

Congratulations to Sports Prefect Minty Welsh who has been named in the Australian Under 18 Water Polo Squad.  Minty’s story is one of determination to succeed and not giving up on her dream. In Minty’s words she describes her path to Australian selection.

“I was selected as the first reserve for the NSW State team this year, so I entered the Draft for the National Championships and was picked up by Victoria. Normally, I would be selected in the second NSW team if I was a reserve, however this year for the first time ever NSW was only   allowed to take one team to Nationals. The Victorian team came fourth which was a good effort as they had finished second  last in another tournament earlier in the year. So, it was a good result to finish in the  top four and beat some hard teams like WA. We just missed getting the Bronze medal in a tight game against New Zealand. I was then selected in the 2025 Under 18 Australian squad which is really exciting. I am also playing for my new club UNSW this weekend as part of  the first team to play in the Sydney Super League.”
