From the Principal

Welcome to Term 4, 2024! It's hard to believe this is the final chapter of the school year here at Kambala. We hope the term break provided a wonderful opportunity for our families to recharge and reconnect, and that our girls have returned to school with renewed energy and enthusiasm.
With the commencement of the term last week, the Year 12 girls started their HSC examinations. The IB cohort followed yesterday. We continue to witness our students’ grace, resilience and accomplishments during this challenging time, and it is important to acknowledge the significant effort and dedication required to reach this point in their education.
This term promises to be a vibrant and rewarding one, filled with opportunities for growth and achievement. We have a dynamic lineup of events and activities planned, including The Year 6 Valedictory Dinner, The Test and Quest Orientation for the 2025 Year 7’s, and we very much look forward to welcoming many of our community at Kambala’s Speech Day on 11 December at the State Theatre.
Beyond these highlights, Term 4 will be a time for our students to consolidate their learning, deepen their understanding, and embrace new challenges. Our dedicated teachers are committed to guiding each student on their individual learning journey and fostering a love of learning that will last a lifetime.
You will notice that this issue of The Whole Girl has been named The Solstice. In line with an initiative within our Strategic Plan, we made the decision to refresh the title of the publication and tasked our senior girls at the end of Term 3 to provide a suitable alternative. Congratulations were extended last week to Danica Zheng Year 10, who suitably suggested the new name. Danica’s rationale:
“A solstice represents a turning point in the natural cycle of the year, marking the longest or shortest day. Similarly, high school is a period of significant change, growth, and transformation of students. The name can symbolise students' own personal "turning points" during their high school journey, whilst also symbolising balance and diversity. The Whole Girl newsletter gives the opportunity to reflect a wide range of student and educator voices, opinions, and experiences, making "solstice: a fitting name for a publication that values inclusivity"
In this nine-week term we continue to encourage all parents and carers to actively engage with the school. We believe that a strong partnership between home and school are essential for creating a supportive and enriching learning environment for every girl in our care.
Here's to a successful and memorable Term 4!
