‘Disney Frozen JR’ was simply amazing. This heartwarming, engaging and inspirational whole school musical event has left an impression on us all. The shared experience of watching students grow through auditions, rehearsals and performances was so very rewarding for parents and teaching staff. Whilst we had great confidence in our students, and our expectations were naturally high, what was delivered on stage in the evening and matinee performance really ‘blew us away.’ It would be fair to say the bar has been placed relatively high for future whole-school performances. A huge ‘thank you’ and sincere congratulations to Miss Angela Kenna. All greatly appreciated her passion, vision, energy, and multiple skill sets in guiding and nurturing our students. ‘Frozen Jnr’ was close to a 12-month undertaking, from announcement through to performance. It is a musical event we will recall with great delight.
One of the highlights of my year is always the annual Year 12 Myrniong Return Assembly. All Year 12 students who commenced their journey at Myrniong return for an afternoon visit. They make the walk up our beautiful 100-year-old driveway and attend a short Assembly. These students are presented with their Year 5 2017 Positive Affirmations, photographs of their time with us and a graduation owl. There is a tangible sense of legacy, time and what they have given to the College.
This year, we have 14 returning students. 9 of these students – Meg Ogle, Jake Tonissen, Zoe Weinberg, Cooper Bonnett, Maggie Bourke, Macey Hermon, Libby Diprose, Zoe Kennedy and Sienna Lewis all commenced their College journey in our Early Learning Centre. That is a combined College experience of 135 years! Having the Year 12s return is a special part of our school. I wish them well in the final week and for their upcoming VCE exams, and thank them for their individual and collective contributions to our great school.
The College is pleased to announce the introduction of a select number of Ivy Scholarships at the Junior School. Scholarship applications are open to all students in Years 4 - 6 in 2025. They are open to students from College and from other schools.
The scholarships are based on broad merit, and will be awarded to students who are well-rounded and curious about learning, who support College values, and who display an interest in the world around them. In assessing each application, weight is given to the range of a student’s achievements and interests, with particular reference to one or more of:
Junior School Ivy Scholarships are awarded on the basis of merit. Current school reports, references and application information will be assessed, and an interview will be held with the Principal and a member of the leadership team.
Further information is available on the Scholarships page of the College website. Short-listed students will be invited for interview later this term.
This Friday is World Teachers’ Day. Teachers play an essential role in shaping the minds of future generations. They are responsible for fostering critical thinking, creativity, and intellectual growth. World Teachers' Day is a time to recognise their contributions. I am privileged to work with the teaching staff at Myrniong, who do more, not less, to nurture and mentor our students. Their positive influence can have a lasting impact on a student's future, making this day a celebration of their dedication.
