Sun Safety

Slip on appropriate clothing.

Slop on sunscreen.

Slap on a hat.

Slide on sunnies.

Seek shade.

The school will ensure that students have access to sunscreen in their classroom, and that students are able to see the UV rating each day at school.

Reminder - Sunhats Required for term 4

We'd like to remind you that your child will require a SunSmart sunhat  for playtime use in Term 4. All students must wear a sun protective hat that shades the face, neck and ears for all outdoor school activities when UV indexlevels are 3 or above, which generally occurs between August to April each year. There are hats available to purchase in the office if your child does not have one.

If students do not have a sunhat to wear outside, they will be asked to play in one of the following shaded areas around the school - under the trees at the Assembly point, on the Yr 1/2 deck, or under the shade sails over the Junior school playground. 

(Please note that caps and beanies are NOT considered to be SunSmart and students wearing these will also be directed to one of these areas.)

We encourage all students to apply SPF30 (or higher) broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen prior to each school day and to bring a personal supply with them for reapplication throughout the day. This is also a timely reminder that students come to school wearing sun-protective clothing:

• loose, cool, closely-woven fabric
• shirts with a collar and/or high necklines
• tops with elbow length or long sleeves
• longer style shorts and skirts
• sun protective hat that shades the face, neck and ears
• (rash vests or t-shirts for outdoor swimming activities)
