Message from the Principal Team

Week 2 Term 4 2024

Dear CNPS Families,

As I write to you again this week, I am continuing to reflect on what a wonderful learning and wellbeing experience the students of CNPS participate in on a daily basis. As I visit classrooms or speak with students around the school, I hear about the impactful learning experiences and the pride students have in themselves, their peers and the school. CNPS is a special place!

Student Safety and Wellbeing

Student safety and wellbeing is key priority for all members of the CNPS community. As I mentioned at my first assembly in Week 1, it is evident that as a community you have a genuine connection and commitment to one another. I encourage parents/carers to liaise with classroom teachers, should you need to discuss student wellbeing throughout Term 4.

School Security and Gates

To maintain a secure environment at CNPS, the school invests in regular nighttime patrols, including gate checks with Southern Cross security. The school also values the local community acting as a conduit, communicating any safety or security matters. Gates to access the school grounds during the term are open from 7am (for those accessing Team Kids), via O’Grady Street and 8.30am off Lee Street. From 9.15am gates are closed and reopened from 3.15pm for end of day dismissal.

School Improvement Team (SIT)

What a hard working School Improvement Team CNPS has. Each week year level Team Leaders, with Billy (Learning Specialist) and all members of the Principal Class team come together to discuss learning and wellbeing. The SIT is an important ‘cog’ in the running of a school, as it ensures departmental priorities and key strategic goals of the school are actioned accordingly.

School Planning 2025

It is that time of year when schools are immersed in planning for 2025. Thus, this is a gentle reminder to families of students in Foundation – Year 5, to please advise CNPS if you are planning to exit the school at the end of this term. This important information will support the school in planning for student and teacher placement in 2025.

Year 2 Sleepover & Year 1 Dinner 2024

What a wonderful evening at CNPS last Thursday. Students from Year 1 and 2 came together for a night of games, fun and pizza. The Year 1 students certainly contributed to the positive energy during the evening. After Year 1 students farewelled their Year 2 friends and headed home for the evening, it was time for the sleepover to begin. Students moved indoors to the hall (where sleeping stations had been setup earlier – thank you parents/carers) and organised themselves for movie time! The behaviour of students throughout the event was amazing. Upon the sun rising on Friday morning, students were well rested and ready for breakfast. Can I please thank Gaby, Arlo (Year 6 student) and Abigail for assisting with the breakfast service. My biggest shoutout goes to hard working Year 1/2 teaching team, Kathleen, Sam and Susie and CNPS Learning Specialist Billy. These memory-making events for students cannot happen without the dedication of CNPS staff.

Please reach out to Jane, Erin, Trish or I should you have any questions or require support.

Warm Regards

Matthew Ferguson
