Sam T - Japan Excursion
Over the recent September/October school holidays, Sam T (Year 9) went to Japan. The trip was 14 days in total leaving on October 4ᵗʰ and returning on October 18ᵗʰ. He went all over Japan visiting most of the well-known cities on the main island, including multiple day-long stays in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka, as well as a day trip to Disneyland Tokyo on the last full day there.
Zepp and Bruce visited the boarding house to help support the students during R U OK Day. The students loved having them there and they both got lots of pats and love.
Halloween
A great time was had by all at our special Halloween celebration.
Berg Shield
Keiran (Year 9) and Sam (Year 8) played in the Berg Shield cricket match. They won their match at Bolton Park, and then went on to play in Canberra on the 12ᵗʰ November 2024, unfortunately without winning.
Netball
MEBS Boareders have been participating in a local mixed netball competition played each Tuesday afternoon. The team is undefeated in the 4 games played, consisting of three girls, Ella, Isla, and Malle, and 2 boys, Albert and Archie.
Rugby Union Competition
On Monday students Billy, Ollie, Archi, Jeremy, Jack, Ashton, and Dusty played in the Henderson Shield Rugby Union for Kildare Catholic College. They played Wagga Wagga High School at Connolly Park, where they came away with a 48-14 win. All players played well in their first game as a team, placing them in a good position to play in the Grand Final in a couple of weeks. The boys play against Mater Dei Catholic College on Monday 18 November.
Downie Shield
Throughout the term, Isaac, Archi, and Albert have been playing in the Downie Shield, defeating Matai Dei Catholic College, Marrin Girith Catholic College, and Carrol College Browlee. The boys will now advance to the quarter-finals later in this term, which will be played in Sydney. The boys have been playing extremely well, and we wish them the best of luck for their future games.

Nagle House
It has been another busy term and we are already receiving requests for Christmas decorating which will begin in earnest on December 2nd. It has been fun to see the girls bring in their matching Christmas pajamas and each year's group seems to have favorites. We are all looking forward to the end-of-year fun that Christmas brings.
This term we welcomed Leah and Maggie into Nagle House, celebrated birthdays, spent time cooking, had some Halloween games, played sports together, and enjoyed hanging out between school, activities, study, and bedtime. Our leaving year 12 girls have completed their last HSC exams and now left for the last time very excited for their futures, and we have been very grateful to have a few more weeks with such a lovely young woman. Our new leaders are already stepping up, taking on the responsibility of running our meetings in Nagle house and when we meet as a whole community representing boarding to their schools in Kildare and Mater Dei. During our recent meeting, our leaders talked to the girls about respect and what it looks like in our community, planned joint events, and worked on ways to encourage all our borders to be the best they can be.
Two Boarding leaders shared their thoughts on the recent leaders conference they attended which was held online at Mount Erin:
A few weeks ago, we attended the Australian Boarding Schools Association's Boarding Student Leaders' Conference. We engaged with peers and fellow boarding student leaders from schools in all states of Australia and overseas with whom we shared ideas, values, and personal boarding experiences. It was an honor to attend the conference as we learned the importance of leadership in our boarding community, as well as some skills to carry with us as we begin our journey as the Mount Erin leaders for 24/25. As well as being an informational day, we had lots of fun and made memories as a leadership group.

REMEMBRANCE DAY
This week was Remembrance Day and Mary created a Lest We Forget artwork. Mary and Tessa also co-wrote what Remembrance Day means to them.
The meaning of remembrance day goes beyond what our mind can contain. Remembrance Day is not just a normal day, it is a day when we remember, honor, and show our compassion to those who have fought and lost their lives, so that we can live in this beautiful country, Australia. The purple and red poppies have a special significance to Australians as they were among the first to flower in the devastated battlefields of Northern France and Belgium in the First World War. It is a day when we cherish our loved ones who have gone before us to serve our country.
Extracurricular Activities
Neve and Maisy have been playing touch football. Missy has umpired and has also been umpiring Netball games. Several Year 10 girls are attending a local gym in the afternoon for fitness and well-being.
Ivana competed in an athletics carnival at the Australian Institute of Sports in Canberra. Ivana came second in the 100, and 200-metre sprints, third in the 400-metre sprint, and second in the long jump.
Maisy has been playing in the Lucas Cup for Mater Dei and her team has won against Wagga and Kildare.
Celeste has successfully completed her Duke of Edinburgh Bronze programme, recently hiking for two days for more than twenty kilometres through Mount Buffalo National Park.
