Year 3 Literacy

What is a Response Text?

Hesilu: A response text is where you judge something.

Mia: A response text is where you give a review of something you did in the past.

Sienna: It’s your opinion on whether you like something or not.

How are the Year 3 students challenging themselves to write a response text?

Joelle: At the start of a response text is a recount of what you are about to judge.

Rachel: But we don’t use boring structures like ‘On the 16th of October, the Year 3 students…’.

Jacob: Instead, we are trying to start our response text with a sizzling start. For example, using onomatopoeia or dialogue.

Maddy: If you use onomatopoeia at the start of your sentence, you have to make sure the sound relates to the next sentence, it cannot be random.

Asher: We are also trying to include SPWICY words in our text. Spwicy words are interesting words that catch the audience’s eyes.
