VOCABULARY

Persuasive Argument: persuasive argument is a form of communication that aims to convince the audience to agree with a particular viewpoint or take a specific action. It combines clear reasoning, evidence, and emotional appeal to make its case. In a persuasive argument, the writer or speaker presents facts, examples, and logical reasoning to support their main idea, while also considering the audience’s beliefs and addressing potential counterarguments.

Assist your child in choosing one of the issues below to write a clear introductory sentence or two that states your position against it. In a persuasive text, the introduction should quickly make your stance clear to the reader.

Issues to Choose From:

  1. School should be held on weekends.
  2. Students should not be allowed to bring their own lunches.
  3. All playgrounds should be closed after school hours.
  4. Homework should be given every night.
  5. Screen time should be limited to one hour a day
