Beachside Division Basketball Team

GOOD LUCK EDIE!

Despite next Tuesday’s Melbourne Cup being known to ‘stop a nation’, we also believe that come Wednesday, there’s also going to be a race worthy of that same title!  We wish our very own, Edie S (5B) all the very best for her 11y Girls 80m Hurdles event next Wednesday at the State Track & Field Championships at Lakeside stadium.   We have no doubt she’ll give it her all, and equally, all of our St. Finbar’s community will be thinking of her around 11am as she runs her race!  Gooo Edie!

BASKETBALL UPDATES from WEEK 3

We once again had another two teams head off to participate in representative basketball tournaments this week - with some wonderful outcomes!

Our Junior Future Star Force team travelled out to the State Basketball Centre in Wantirna South to play in their Regional HoopTime tournament.  The team managed to win an impressive 3 of their 5 pool games over the day, which resulted in them qualifying for the Junior Future Stars State HoopTime finals!  It’s going to be an exciting day on Thursday 5th of December for this team.

Today we have our Senior Girls Basketball team playing in their SMR Regional Basketball finals at Jubilee Stadium in Frankston - we wish this team of 10 Year 5 & 6 girls all the very best for this exciting event!

 Year 3&4 Cricket Blast wrap

Our five Year 3&4 Cricket Blast teams had a fun day of round-robin games last Friday down at Dendy Park.  Over the day, all teams played five games against other Dendy District school teams.  A HUGE thank you to all the amazing parents that gave up their time to support their child’s team over the day, as well as our staff, Mr Mills, Miss Antonio, Mr Anderson and Tess.  Teams developed their cricket knowledge and skills over the course of the day, with a few wins and a few losses on the board.  Well done to all participants.

WHOLE SCHOOL SWIMMING CARNIVAL

Please look out for an Operoo next week regarding everything about our upcoming Whole School Swimming Carnival, which is set to take place on Friday 29th November at MSAC outdoor swimming pool in Albert Park.   The Junior and Senior carnival will be run in the same pool, with a boom separating the pool into two.  The Juniors will swim in 3 events, in a shallow-80cm depth water, with noodle and staff support if required.  Our Year 3-6’s select which events they wish to swim in, both 25m and 50m options.

Parents: please lock this date into your diaries now!  This event does require the wonderful support from numerous parent helpers for both the Junior (P-2) and Senior (3-6) carnivals.
